Customers rave about the friendly staff at May's, consistently described as welcoming and accommodating. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a peaceful meal. The coffee receives high praise, with many calling it the best they’ve experienced in years. Diners enjoy the extensive menu that offers everything from classic English breakfasts to unique paninis. The homemade cakes are another highlight, especially for those with a sweet tooth; the generous slices and impressive variety make them hard to resist. Plus, the option to sit outdoors, especially with well-behaved dogs, adds to the charm of the experience.

Most Disliked

While May's Café has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, a few guests have mentioned minor wait times during peak hours, particularly on Saturdays around noon when the café reaches 100% capacity. Some diners noted that breakfast served during busy times might feel rushed, impacting the overall experience. A couple of patrons wished for a slightly expanded menu to incorporate more gluten-free choices. Lastly, while the café is accommodating to children, high chairs may occasionally be in limited supply during busy periods.

I have to start and say May’s Cafe is easily the best cafe in Burnham-On-Sea. My friends and I came and visited here after seeing the popularity through the reviews and seeing all the photos from their social media. We were all so impressed. The staff were so friendly, every single one of them. The food was incredible, nothing at all to complain. The pricing was just right for everything. They offered cakes as well, huge slices for a reasonable price that looked to die for and I spoke to one of the staff members and they said they were all made from a local baker in Burnham. Speaking of local, all of the products they use are all locally sourced! What more could you want? I really do recommend coming to May’s for some food, or definitely their drinks. Their coffee’s are one of the best coffee’s I have had in years!! The menu is so good and thought out. You have basic food on their for people who want something simple, yet they have different yet fantastic dishes for people who want to ‘explore’ when going out for food. From a tuna mayo panini to a classic English breakfast to a ploughman’s to a bacon, brie and cranberry panini!! All in all, I highly recommend coming to May’s. We had such an incredible experience, and will for sure be coming back!!!

I have eaten here before when it first opened. This month, as I was flying out on holiday for 2 weeks & was winding down the fridge decided to go again. From the welcoming greeting received to the food it was superb. The (mostly) young team know how to be friendly and accommodating. So when I said I didn’t want hash brown's (not IMO part of an English breakfast...but then I'm old) the offered a substitute of mushrooms. Always been a dog owner, so nice to see so many well behaved canines present. They ate my 2nd sausage! I would heartily recommend to locals & visitors alike. Good luck with everything & keep up the good service & food. 👍

What a little gem! Popped in for tea and coffee and stayed for the breakfast! Great ingredients and the food was so full of flavour! Tea and coffee was great and though we didn't have any of the cakes there was a very tempting selection. Can't say anything negative as everyone was happy, smiling and had great product knowledge. Will be back when next in the area!!

Amazing, the menu was all day breakfast with loads of smaller options, I loved how they offered egg and toast options for the full English. The coffee was perfect, just as good as independent roasters. Our server was also excellent, she was well organized and offered us sauces beforehand. Plenty of space outside for dogs and push chairs.

I visited Mays a little while back with some friends. The cafe is beautifully decorated and is the perfect spot for coffee and food. The staff are brilliant, they are super friendly and accommodating. My grandparents also visited and couldn’t praise the cafe more! I would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Mays is an absolute gem - run by the kindest, most hardworking women you could hope to meet. Every dish is made with care, creativity, and a level of preparation that, sadly, some people seem to overlook. The food is nothing short of incredible, and the service is always warm, attentive, and genuine. It’s clear the team here pours their heart into everything they do, yet they rarely receive the recognition they deserve. I cannot recommend this café enough for a truly relaxing, delicious, and heartwarming experience.
